Russell Jones was his real name and he died of an apparent heart attack. Second of all raps greats to some extent he built one of the foundations of rap culture (Wu). and had a few hits in his own right. ( Shimmy n money). But to compare him to people like Snoop or Dre or 2pac or biggie is just not right. Anyhow thats just my two cents sad to see him go.

You may be right about getting to high in a sence... beacuse i belive its the crack that fucked his heart up. but Causes Unknown, none knows why yet.

ya him and his couz rza started the wu... and there probabaly the best rap group of all time, in my mind. He had ALOT more hits then shimmy and money, even him in mariah careys song went huge.

ok to be completely honest i dont listen to rap ne more i stopped when pac died ... well stopped listening to as much but i liked ODB he wasnt better then pac or ne one in the NWA like dre ice cube or ez e none of them were worse then odb but he had his own style he was awesome one of the rappers that was crazier and known for it did what he wanted and i respect that i just think alot of others are better then him just what i think

but actually i have to say pac is the greatest, outshining everyone by far, and if you have a west side east side biased opinion then i dont really care who you think is the greatest. Im from Cali, but i never even listened to any rap until like 96, when i had moved to florida, and looking at it lyrically (which is really the only way you can look weigh a rapper, since there is not quite as much actual music involved) I think it is undeniable that 2pac was the greatest. I really dont even like rap and i still tink many of his lyrics are on the verge of genius. They teach friggin classes about his writing... i mean, damn. A Modern shakespear.
pac might be the greatest, but he doesnt outshine everyone by far at all...i dont think hes the greatest...

yea the only rap ive ever liked has been stuff from pac, mos def, and some snoop, too, jst for that party feel ya know. Chronic w00t :-P But i havent listened too much to nas, guess ill have to look into him a little more.
