I suggest that you alter the Industry science to include Farms.
Indutry increasues the amount of iron a region produces, i bet if you took a pole on how many people research industry 1 out of a 30 actually do. I also bet that if you changed it to how many people who know how to play the game it would be 1 out of 100.
But if you tossed farms into the mix, everyone and thier mother would research it
Look at it this way ..................... Hacking + Tech isnt a proble so why would Iron + Food be a problem ?
If it is a problem then throw it into a new catagory.
Yer, I think that would help the game along, It would be a better use of land aswel because you wouldnt need as many farms because your farms are producing more food. If thats what ur on about.
ah....then i would have to buy more tech. it's a good idea though.

It wouldn't get used til later in the game anyway, when you would have a bunch of scientsts and you could jst dump it in. But actually, I guess u would have to keep it up tho. Bah, anyway ya, interesting idea.
There are a few people who can walk out of protection with 50% science and its possible to walk out with 100% so if you call that late in the game, i guess your right ?
