also, US has a huge aquifer, the ogallala or some name like that, so yeah, for those of you that dont know what that is, it's a giant underground lake that covers a huge portion of the western united states. basically, if needed, the US can survive on it's own(for oil we drill in alaska, when that's done, we'll have more reliable hydrogen technology and maybe have working cold fusion power instead of just experimenting with it like we are now). i may have missed a few things...but i think i've justified that the US can survive on it's own.

As for the oil in Alaska I don't think theres enough there to even bother drilling that's why america relys on iraq for it's oil.

Plus even if they are able to use hydrogen as an energy source do you know how much money it would cost to switch over to hydrogen power? Do you know how much hydrogen is needed to power a car for a kilometre? And the machines that extract hydrogen atoms what are they gonna run on? Hydrogen? That would defeat the purpose. To power up a city for a day using hydrogen would drain an ocean. It's not a good source of energy. And it won't be used for maybe a hundred more years if not longer. So for now america is gonna have to stick to oil and electricity.
