it seems to me that there has been a decrease in popularity. for example:
(1) the once great zaraz chat is now largely empty
(2) blitz attendance is down
(3) normal attendence is also way down
(4) forum insult thread numbers are down
(5) forum post numbers are down (down to about 600 or so a round, contrasting with 2000 a year ago)
why? maybe b/c....
(1) an increasing rift in skill between the elites, good players and newbies
(2) a dynasty of Enclave-Macbeth-Link has arisen and people really don't like them, thereby making many players leave
(3) blitz is way too fast
(4) unstable restart and unfreeze times
(5) a number of Zaraz players moving from Zaraz to Ominix
(6) lack of updates and changes to the game
(7) lack of stable large alliances other than Enclaves (OMINIX in its various forms lasted 4-5 months, Elite Warriors lasted a year and a half, JustUs lasted 5-6 months; no other lasting alliances come near to their skill and strength)
( increased suicider activity destroys good players out of protection
(9) cheating, hacking, multying
(10) less chat room usage means fewer rivalries, arguments etc (more entertainment)
i think a few measures need to be taken:
(1) increased chat usage
(2) increased forum usage
(3) new rules that hinder growth of giant regions
(4) acceptance of new rules by Admin
(5) stable start and unfreeze scripts by Admin

decreased forum posts means decreased interest in the game. decreased chat usage means decreased interest in the game. nowadays, how many conversations happen in the chat a day? maybe one? how many alliance wars are there? maybe one a round? how much of the top50 actually play? maybe half? have there been more complaints about this game? probably.

next lets name some good players who have quit zaraz
so as u can see the number of good players is steadily decreasing as people quit. so zaraz is controlled by a few elite and everyone else is somewhere at the bottom, without training and without a good alliance

Blitz was fun at first...now it is boring. Server 2 should be used for something other than blitz...(there's a thread about it on the suggestion forums somewhere)

Scheduled restarts and unfreezes would be nice, but it isn't that big of a deal (at least for server 1)...aftter you spend your initial money on buildings you have 12 hours before you need to do anything

Play both...or stop complaining about zaraz and just play Ominix if so many people are switching to Ominix.

Would be cool to have some updates...though GEM always says he is close to being finished with the advanced server, so maybe he can launch that soon. A downside to updates and changes would be new people would have a harder time learning the game...

Um...make one? If people don't want to ally then there is nothing to really do about it other than try to ally them yourself...

Don't suicide...it rarely does anything significant

If you are stupid enough to give out your password or use an easily guessed password then suck it up. And delete+ban all multies.

Punish larger regions? That's going to drive the good people away...
Dragon: such programs are very slow in bruteforcing, having your password in letters/numbers and at least 8 chars long (and obviously some random combination of them without particular mneaning) would make it virtually impissible to get your password...
Well...Admin should realize if someone is trying to brute force a password and should take action...or just code a script which only allows you so many wrong passwords in an allotted time, if there isn't already one.
And if you are talking about trojans, then the person being "hacked" shouldn't have ran the trojan...Just like you shouldn't ride in strangers' cars just because they offer you candy, don't run programs from strangers if you don't know what could be on them.
Yeas, it can still be done, but it will take around eight thousand years to go through all combinations of alpha pass, not to mention alphanumeric (8 chars)...
like team 2...namely odin u fukkin suck at this game....

thing is on ominix, isn't it much harder to get really good? cause from what I heard, there are a lot of top players and a noob can't hope to be like them. thats why I joined zaraz a couple of months back, its easier to get good here. I am not saying that I am good, but I used to be much worse. =)
well currently, the compeition at zaraz is more skilled than at ominix altho this round of ominix might change with the influx of players such as Spears, math class, dragon, drummer etc etc
There are some good players away from the alliances (e.g. Sardaukarlegion).
Good enough: dragon, sardaukarlegion, cb (should be good if not suicides coz he played for soooooooo long, or haven't u got skills cb?), MMD and others, just find them.
The problem is that u can't find allies to join you, coz i guess u suck so much
u suck not in the way u are dumb, u suck in the way u betray ur allies and tell too much s**t (at least i guess so).
When i entered zaraz, i started to fight Evilone with his alliance coz they were dominating, i was searching for allies and now i found a lot. What has changed is that old dominating alliance moved away while our alliance took over. It's hard to find good ally, really hard.
We are: Link, macbeth, ash, zionite (will not play next rounds), chiel, insane and me...(i am a little bit sleepy yet and a little bit drunk, so i could forget someone )

you could at least try to form an opposition.

we concentrated quite a lot of attacks onto Odin - by doing that we let Hand slip out of reach...
if team1 did this on purpose (ie. keeping hand out of the battle and letting him grow) then they made a very clever move....

Dragon, it's not the general to have a good start and impress everyone (suiciders for example). In the start of the game u often have to deal with guys as strong as you or even stronger. You would need some skills as well.
